Sub Zero has been developing performance outdoor clothing in Leicestershire for more than 50 years.
Our story began with a simple idea: create technical clothing that helps people stay comfortable in demanding outdoor conditions. From our early thermal garments to today's performance base layers and mid layers, that principle continues to shape the products we manufacture.
Today, Sub Zero remains an independent British business, with many of our core garments still manufactured in our own factory in Leicestershire.
Made in Leicestershire
While much of the clothing industry has moved production overseas, Sub Zero continues to manufacture many of its core performance garments in our own Leicestershire factory.
Our base layers, thermal mid layers and a range of accessories are produced by our experienced team using specialist performance fabrics and manufacturing techniques developed over decades.
Keeping manufacturing in-house gives us greater control over quality, allows us to refine and develop products ourselves, and means the people making our clothing understand exactly how those garments are intended to perform.
Over 50 Years of Sub Zero
Sub Zero's roots stretch back to 1969, when the business began developing specialist clothing in Leicester — a city with a long history of textile and garment manufacturing.
Over the decades, our products have evolved as fabrics, manufacturing techniques and outdoor activities have changed. What hasn't changed is our focus on creating practical performance clothing designed to work as part of an effective layering system.
From the development of our Factor 1 base layers and Factor 2 mid layers to today's range of technical outdoor clothing, more than five decades of manufacturing experience goes into the products we make.
Sub Zero Today
Today, Sub Zero combines British manufacturing with a carefully selected range of outdoor clothing and equipment from specialist brands.
From our factory and warehouse in Leicestershire, we manufacture Sub Zero performance clothing, fulfil online orders and supply customers, retailers and businesses in the UK and overseas. Our factory shop also gives customers the opportunity to visit us, see our products and speak directly with our team.
We remain focused on what has always mattered to us: practical products, dependable performance, knowledgeable service and clothing designed to last.

Manufacturing products in our own UK factory gives us greater visibility and control over how our clothing is produced. We focus on making durable products, reducing unnecessary packaging and continually looking for practical ways to reduce the environmental impact of our operations.
